The United Nations Security Council (UNSC)

Agenda : Consideration of the Situation in the Middle East, including the Recent Escalation of Hostilities between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Israel, and its Implications for International Peace and Security.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Committee simulates the key decision-making body responsible for maintaining international peace and security and is considered the most powerful committee within the United Nations. Delegates in this committee assume the roles of member states, discussing critical issues such as armed conflicts, peacekeeping missions, sanctions, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Given its unique structure, with five permanent members holding veto power and ten rotating members, the committee's dynamics often involve complex negotiations and diplomacy. Participating in the UNSC allows MUN delegates to delve into the intricacies of international security, power relations, and the challenges faced by the world in achieving lasting peace.
